Riflemens / belt axe

Here's a nice little axe I thought might be of interest to some of you. The forged head is three & half inches long by an inch and three quarter wide. Twelve and a half inches long overall. There are a series of angled hash marks on both sides of the well worn haft . Anyone have any idea's of when this style head would date to? Jim

Can’t speak for the age but it sure is cool! Especially with the character in the haft. I’d be curious what species of wood due to the color.

Thanks, I think it's pretty neat also.
I believe the haft wood is Hickory .

Neat little axe !! I like the way they just worked around the knot in the haft and, just kept going. Nice. Nate
