I need help with Flint Lock Rifle
« on: June 03, 2018, 06:13:48 PM »
I have this flint lock rifle that I acquired through an estate.  I have learned some information about the maker of it from this forum, but I am would like some determining the age and value if possible.  I Love firearm history and I myself have some older wheel guns, but I am not a long gun collector.  I would like this gun to go into the hands of a collector.  Any information would be much appreciated.

It is a caplock not a flintlock.  If you will do a search for "Great Western Gun Works, Pittsburgh, Pa.", there is a lot of information on the company out there.  Plus some rifles for sale to get ballpark value.  For example, in June 26, 2015 Rock Island Auction sold a lot(#223) of three guns with one of them a Great Western for $1150 for the lot.
