"H" stamped barrel on McGilvray rifle

Was cleaning some crud off  my  McGilvray rifle and came across an H stamped on either side of the barrel.  I've had several of his rifles over the years and have never seen this before. Actually I don't remember seeing it on any rifles. Any one else ever run into this?     Jim

I just checked my McGilvray rifle, but no H on the barrel.
