George, you've done well to capture the charm of the piece. Your gun reminds me of an old friend. Carving cherry is tricky and you carried it off well.
May I make a suggestion for your next wire inlay project? After you have drawn and cut the line, and the ribbon of silver, try tapering the last 1/4" of the ribbon, so that it fades out at the tip. It doesn't have to come to a point, and the wood will swell again to tightly hold it in, but it'll make the design less harsh, softening the tips of the tendrils.
All in all, a nicely made and decorated piece.
