Lock ID
« on: July 19, 2018, 09:42:40 PM »
A friend asked about getting a new main spring for a small pistol lock that he has. It won't bust a cap because of the weak spring.
Any one recognize this lock? It has a S inside a circle?

The photo of the inside is so dark, I cannot see the details of the inards.  Except for the tail filing and the position of the sear screw the plate and hammer look small Siler.  I know, not much help!

If he uses TOW's catalogue, he will likely find a replacement spring that will work.  their ad photos are full sized and show both sides of the lock.

try re-tempering the spring, chances are you will be able to improve on its tension. nothing to loose here.

Thanks to all that replied. I wondered if it was a Becky lock. That spring should be available. I have never made a main spring but like you said nothing lost if it does not work!
Thanks
