I'm on vacation and just seeing this.  Reeves is the last of the early forefathers of our club, the Lancaster muzzle loading rifle association.  He was a nice old boy and always willing to discuss and share knowledge of this addiction of ours.  I remember taking my son to his house to pick out hardware for the gun I built him for his graduation gift.  Reeves talked him into the Dickert butt plate and trigger gaurd.  Rest in peace old friend!
Remember Paoli!

I never had the pleasure/honor of meeting the man or talking to him on the phone, but I know in my heart that we have lost a real treasure.

My heartfelt condolences to his family, and to those who knew Reaves as a friend.

Times have sure changed. Gun control used to mean keeping the muzzle pointed in a safe direction

Spoke with Reaves regarding correct hardware for a rifle I was making. He kindly sent me the best hardware that he recommended and drew me a picture of how to modify the buttplate to be historically correct. A true, gentle gentleman in all respects. Our community will sadly miss him. My prayers for his family and close friends. God's Speed Reaves! May you rest in the Arms of the Lord.

I have used Reaves' castings but never met him in person. I did meet his daughter, Jen at Dixon's and she is going to carry on with the business. bought some castings there and will get more to support her effort.

I've known him a very long time as I was his dentist (in another life). Every Dixon's we seem to lose another of the movements leaders.  Jon Laubach passed this year as well.

Reaves believed that a man's word was his bond.  Call him, place an order, and he'd ship it out.  "Just pay me if you like them, if not return them."  He'll be greatly missed.

An experience I had totally forgotten!  I only had the pleasure of speaking with Reaves on two or perhaps three occasions, but it didn't take long to realize I was speaking with someone very special.  A true gentleman and someone who will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.  My condolences to his family and friends.

While we will all face the end of our days, it is sad to see friends and family pass on.
Prayers and condolences sent. He will be missed.

Very sad to hear. The last few years I'd stop by at Dixon's and buy a casting whether I needed it or not. Reaves would tell the story of where or who  he got the original from and give advice on the type of gun it could be used on.

My condolences to his daughter Jenny and the rest of his family.
