  Jim some how I knew with the CNC post you were going to show us something to shock us...!  But why do I have the feeling this is your handy work ?
    Very impressive work. Who ever the builders is.... Kit or no kit this is one outstanding firearm. Amazing what some people can do with a blank canvas...thanks for shocking us...well done indeed...!   Oldtravler

Is there a prize for folks who spotted it without being told?

(Actually, I though it was a kit with the comb nose slightly reshaped. After double-checking against the pictures on your website is appears that the comb is stock, however. Don't know if that disqualifies me as a winner or not! :P)

Well I guess it is time to chime in. Jim Kibler did not make the rifle, he supplied the kit. At that being said Mr. Casteel redesigned the rife to fit a 19th century makers gun. He took the kit and with about 10 hr's of wood work instead of a hundred he had something he could then make into what he wanted. By reshaping everything he could and making all the silver parts came up to this the piece. Some of older makers and younger ones cannot endure the task of wood removal (health issues). Mr Casteel and I spoke about this a year ago and came to point that these kits can be made into a lot of great guns. So take one and run with it. The sky's the limit.

A fantastic job of showing just what is possible.  Some serious art involved on all levels.  My personal taste would lead to just enough carving to show the maker is capable, and no inlays.   :-)   You should be proud of your kits Jim.  They are lovely.  God Bless,   Marc

I wondered if it started as a colonial rifle kit. The butt plate, lock and trigger guard had me thinking yes. But the double set trigger had me reconsidering if I was mistaken. Regardless it is a wonderful gun and impressive detail work.
