Colonial Rifle Kit Assembly Part 8
« on: August 04, 2018, 11:19:59 PM »

Every builder needs to learn to draw file a barrel.  Not nearly as intimidating as you might think!

Speedy, SpeedyK, your new name.  :D You ought to have one of those floor stands with a "Man Working" sign on it. Good demonstration, tell me than brand name of that file again, sounded like you were saying "Baco."

Dave,

It's Bahco, I asked that same question on his YouTube channel and he posted a link.

There are lots of great tips in this series of videos, especially for people like me who don't have a lot of experience and don't know any builders or have easy access to the great classes that are available. I'm finding it's nice to see even the simplest procedures explained and demonstrated. This is great reinforcement to the many books I've read and the one class I did manage to take (Jim Parker's class, a great experience I would also recommend to anyone wanting hands on instruction).

I need sharper files - It's interesting on how these tools all have to be at their sharpest to do the job correctly -

Hi Jim,

What a fantastic job you have done with these videos.  You are a real blessing to folks not only building your kits, but to others as well.  You are a natural behind the camera.  Again, fantastic job.  I almost feel like a goober like me could build a nice rifle.....almost.   ;-)  Best wishes and God Bless,  Marc

Thank you guys.  We'll be adding another video soon.  Been carving a rifle and we've been recording some of it.  This carving is a long process and it's begining to beat me down a little...

Nice video, Jim. That takes so much mystery out of this process.

Great tutorial.  I usually buy a new file for every barrel I draw file.  Makes it easier to clean up without any gouges or scratches from a junky file.
I'd rather die standing, than live on my knees...
