Glaze

Here is a George W Glaze rifle I bought at auction a few months back.  I think the rifle was made in Springfield WV or maybe Oldtown Maryland.  I have been fortunate to of owned three other rifles made by George, but this one I am gonna keep. It has a decent reconversion & I am not sure why the eagle is upside down. I am going to leave it as is.    IMO, ole George was right up there with the Sheetz' Gunmakers.

That's Right.  I like B&W Pics better, just another one of my quirks.

Nice looking rifle Avlrc whether b&w or color! Unusual carving but I like it, different.

That's a fine rifle AVLRC! I'm glad to see you posted pictures of it for others to see.
Dennis, that carving you see is the western Maryland influence. You don't see his carvings repeating their selves like a lot of old masters.

I can see why you would want to keep that one. It's a beautiful Glaze rifle with a great signature, and I really like the "spaghetti" carving, as past KRA member Bill Bowers used to call it. Great gun.  Shelby Gallien

That is interesting,  I hadn't heard that terminology  decribing this style of carving.  In Bowers book on page 172 he has a wonderful Glaze rifle. Thanks
