There is a thread over on gun builders showing plain guns..... its been well attended. What say you all about showing your favorite bags and horns....... Come on, show them off. It may help some folks with design ideas......

Not much of a leather worker but I have made them for all the kids and grand kids.

A work in progress for a Jaeger rifle in the near future.

Thank you Marc. It is painted on canvas, varnished, and laminated to tanned buckskin.

... my "everyday" shooting gear,... horn is known to be 150+ years old, going back at least four generations of my family in east Tennessee,... bag is about 8"x 7" braintanned buckskin lined with heavy linen cloth,... simple east Tennessee Smoky Mountain style,....

Here is a barktan deer hide bag by Curt Lyles an horn by Scott Sibley that I use with my deer rifle

Here is a Scott Sibley horn that I use turkey hunting

Here is a Curt Lyles barktan goatskin bag and a Scott Sibley horn I use with one of my squirrel rifles

You are doing some very nice leather work. Leather work to be proud of for sure.

Tim, I don't know how I would share it. I see a bag style I like and draw it out on paper, cut it out, tape it together and maybe tweak it around a bit, disassemble it and trace the parts out on the leather and start stitching. The book by T.C. Albert has been a great help in understanding how to work with leather. I think Ron Scot posted a picture of a bag he made with a painted flap, that was the inspiration for mine.

Sometimes I just go with the amalgam of pictures I've seen and just start drawing.

Here is a bark tan deer hide bag by Curt Lyles that he used the neck of the deer so there are no side seems. I use this bag for my turkey hunts

He's a good man, love to talk to him.
He once told me that his favorite food was fried squirrel, he said he and his wife shared a squirrel for dinner (lunch) about 3 days a week. I told him he must not be a big eater to only have 1/2 a squirrel. Then he explained how big their Fox squirrels were.

Couldnt find some pics in my computer so I just made a couple new ones. Here is a Curt Lyles barktan deer hide bag an a jeff Bottiger horn that I intend to use with a rifle that Joe Schell is currently working on.

Here is a Frank Barker bag that is used with one of my squirrel rifles. The Scott Sibley southern horn has already been shown but its my fffg horn so it goes with the bag
