I have not really had any trouble with that. Obviously stain will not penetrate the seam. If the wood that you glue is a tight fit you just get a thin line that is not likely to be ever noticed against the grain or the curl. Problem that i have is that the glue tends spread out a bit on the surface. That won't stain. But it does not penetrate very deep in the wood and can be sanded away fairly easily.

on curly maple like that you should try cutting cross grain with that gouge.
