Latest project
« on: October 16, 2018, 12:19:17 AM »
Friend did some horse trading and ended up with a kit gun someone else had bought and never started.  He asked if I’d put it together for him.  I said I’d do it ( don’t really like kits but I’ve known him for about 50 years).  Thought I’d post a pic of progress, since everyone else posts pics of really NICE guns and I’m feeling left out.

Good on ya for taking on the project for a friend.

Looks like you have made good progress already.

I have to ask because I can't help myself (nosy Nelly):

What is going on with the short wood at the muzzle?  Looks like a rifle to me.  Was it cut that way as a kit, or are you thinking cut-back rifle/smoothbore pressed into militia service for a bayonet?

Keep us posted!

Cheers,
Norm

The pic is deceiving.   What looks like a short section of barrel is actually the muzzle cap ( and I’m proud of the fit I got on that.).  It’s the one that came with the kit.  I plan on thinning the fore end and adding a full length molding to the sides of the ramrod channel to sort of “slim” it up a bit.

Your kit gun project looks great!

But your cafe racer may be greater!

I saw that too.  I can "feel" that foam rubber seat...Brings back memories.

Yes, the cafe is a ‘66 CB 77.   I had 5 derelicts in the basement at one time. Bought every one I could find. Managed to put a pretty original one together, and had enough to pretty much do this one. Still needs  re-wiring finished.   Muzzleloaders and single shots evidently are not enough.    And I have another trade gun to build for another friend after this one.
