I can see that you are going to have to have plenty of Kentucky windage to compensate for that left handed short starter ;D

For years I just choked up on the rr to get the prb started.  Hands can't do that now.  Using something flat to get the ball even with the muzzle still lets me go directly to the rod for seating.

Nice looking short starter, Rich.  Just looks right.  I may have to whittle one out.

OMG!!! Your initiative may be onto something!!!  Great Job!!!  A product that will send a patched ball a short way down the bore so you can get a better grip on the ramrod!!!

Maybe tip the ends with brass and....wait a minute...Make 'em with a round head!!!!!!!!

Nah.  it'll never catch on.

I bet you could use that little knife to build a shelter for yourself.  How  can you stand yourself for being so cool?

I call mine a "ball starter" because

short starting is a crime.  It's a psychological thing yo. ::)

AND as I packed up the pickup for deercamp last weekend, I thought I was going to be forced to whittle a fresh one for myself...but eventually I found the bag that had my stuff.

It might not have come out so lovely as yours.

It’s expedient. I might keep it. I think adding finish would be over the top though.
