Good Times
« on: November 05, 2018, 01:59:43 AM »
I’m getting quite the collection of nice stuff with this hobby.  I haven’t completed a horn yet but I’m working on it. I made a bag for my pistol and both of my BP rifles.  It makes it nice having a matching bag to hold the different caliber balls and more candy bars while at the range. This has been a very fun ride.  Thank all of you for all the help I get on here.   I don’t get outbto shoot much and my building time is staying up late. I had to replace the sights on my second rifle due to a rookie mistake.  I finally got it hitting where I’m aiming. The white target is closer than 25. I changed patch material from TOTW pillow ticking to a Stafford JC Penny’s cotton dress shirt siting it in. . Both were lubed with mink oil.  The pillow ticking was too thick and it was hard ramming the ball down. The shirt material goes down like butter.  It shot well with the ticking but no different than the dress shirt material.  The  black target was  at 25 yards. Mine was the right.  I shot two at the bullseye and then one at the lower left in the middle of the dots to see if I cutt two holes.   Either I missed the whole target or cut two holes in the bulseye.  It got dark so we had to quit.

That’s Mike Beans on the left.  He moved the sight a bit to the left and clipped the bullseye twice and quit. This is off his deck.  He has quite the set up at his house.

I'm confident that the target on the right has 5 balls through one hole.

Check out this site for patching material. I was looking for a .015 patch with a tighter weave than I had on hand. I bought some off their ebay site and shot in my .40, all the patches looked good after they were shot, and very accurate.
I was lubing with Mr. Flintlock lube and the new patch, easy to start, easy to seat. Should work better than a dress shirt.

This piece I have circled has me confused.  I thought it was a reinforcement but I don’t know and I don’t know if it goes completely around the back of the bag.

AGFVet, almost looks like a second but knife sheath shorter & with a deeper blade, as maybe a skinning knife?
