I Dutch three out of four rifles. i use Lenox Protool water soluble cutting oil on the patches. I don't remember where i originally found it, a machine tool shop in Kingston, Ontario, and have found it at Rideout Machine and Tool in St. John`s, NL. it works very well in all conditions, and i swab with govt size cleaning patches dampened with Dutch`s moose milk that i keep in a little oil bottle from the former USSR. since it has a bunch of alcohol in it, it does not freeze, so the damp patch doesn't freeze to the barrel in the cold.
my .32 and .45 like 6-1 patches
the .50 does not really care between 4-1 to 7-1.
the other .50 hates PRBs but likes Minnie balls with a cheese wax and oil mix lube. right ratio will be nice and sticky/slippery even in the cold.
i find it is suited for both bench shooting and hunting, but thats just me.
