spent the last two saturdays at the range playing with my 54 LeHigh with a Colerane round groove barrel. .520 balls with .025 denim and mink oil averaged around 1 3/4" at 50 yds. .526 balls with .02 ticking and mink oil best group was .8" with 90gr. of Old Eynsforf 3f. Barrel is coned and I'm looking for a hunting load witch doesn't require a short starter. might of found it. Need to retry and see if I get same result.

The 2nd combo sounds awfully good but i think both would be ok for hunting.

Agreed, for hunting, either would work  but I would be inclined to never use the first load again unless I lost the .526" mould.
