S. Beig, Lancaster fowler
« on: December 21, 2018, 08:56:50 PM »
A friend recently came into possession of a long flintlock fowler with lock marked J. Beigs.  I've been able to find little on him.
Does anyone have knowledge of this maker?  I will not be able to post pics until after the holiday.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

American Firearms Makers, A. Merwyn Carey, lists "Beig S., about 1790. Gunsmith in Lancaster Co. PA, made Kentucky flintlock rifles."

American Gunsmiths, Frank M. Sellers, lists Beig, S., but no location is given.

Could the "J" actually be an "S"?
