Finished Knife for the upcoming Alabama Kentucky Longrifle Show
« on: December 29, 2018, 11:00:03 PM »
Finished this knife to be donated to the upcoming Alabama Kentucky Longrifle Show at Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogersville, AL January 10-12, 2019.  Jim Parker has put together what is shaping up to be another great show.  I really look forward to this one because it is close to home.

The blade is 8 1/8" x 1 1/4" x 3/16" with iron bolster and end cap, cherry handle with a lightly aged finish. Overall length is just a shade under 13".
Just have to finish the sheath and do the final sharpening.

Sheath is complete.

I like the whole knife, but especially that octagonal handle.  Comfy to grip.  Thanks for showing us this nice work.

Very nicely done. I have 2 knives with that exact handle, no idea who made them.

Thank you, the sawtooth pattern was fun to work out.  I used a blunted finishing nail to make the holes. Laid out the pattern on a manila folder to make a mock up.  Amazing what you can do with a ruler and a manila folder.  I enjoy the leather work almost as much as the forgework.

Thanks again Todd for your donation to the show, that is a fabulous looking knife and sheath. You’re  right the show is just a few days away and all of the tables are sold so it should be a great show. Ron Hess has made a horn for the show and it will be going to one lucky table holder. I am making a tomahawk that we will raffle off and give away at the end of the show. I hope to see all of you guys at the show.

Bravo on your work.  The majority of the time when I see knife makers work, the sheaths aren't near the quality of the knife.  Your sheath is quite impressive.  The finish, design, details, and edges are all well executed.  Impressive!   God Bless,   Marc
