Peep Sight 32 cal

   Would like some ideas for making a peep sight for a 32 cal Squirrel Rifle.

That is a fine looking sight!
Is the small hole drilled for a pin to secure the sight from swinging left or right?
What is a Johnson sight?

Hi Fred,
It is so that when you remove the sight to access the tang bolt, when reinstalled it is perfectly centered again.

    Thanks for the reply probly looking at more of a Lolly-Pop rear.Was shooting the 32 today and could not really see the sights too well ,was only getting  a 1" groups at 20 yds ,i used to shoot dimes size or less at that range with this rifle.

Several years ago a friend,SWAT Commander on our Police Dept wanted to make a
mini Creedmoor for his grandson.It was done by using a TC Cherokee with a new
GM .32 caliber barrel that I trimmed to 30" and added a Lyman 17A with a windage
adjustable base I made and as an added surprise,I made up a miniature version of
the long range sights like those on a .451 long range rifle complete with .025
calibrations for elevation. That youngster was very happy with this rifle,still has
it and he,his now retired grandpa and myself went to the CLA show in Lexington
last August.The boy is hooked and had a great time.

The one on the left From TOW the one on the right filed from a piece of brass, that I mounted just in front of the tang.

shifty, the sight is adjustable for elevation. There is a 8/32 tapped hole, drilled at an angle through the tang. The sights have a 8/32 stem that's locked in with a lockwasher and nut beneath the tang. Windage is done by drifting the front sight. Key here is how close to center you get the hole drilled.
The dovetail filler is temporary and was made just as a filler until I could get around to making one that fits better.
The hole has been drilled larger since the photo was made. The front of the hole was countersunk with a center drill. If you magnify the first photo you can just see it.

Shifty, the Williams Sight Company has various size threaded apertures.  I use a .093 for some applications, and a .080 for others.
