Got me a new flinter
« on: February 28, 2019, 06:18:29 AM »
My good buddy Todd just finished for me a French Fusil Fine. 16ga 46" barrel, her name is "Matilda" (strong in battle)

Todd made this side plate  copied from a LH original that was dug up in Louisianan

The lock is a large Siler reworked and unbridled

He made the thumb rest and put in a piece of copper. Copper was good luck in them days

Traditional walnut

The long 46" barrel Todd says gives you an advantage..."yer half way to the turkey"

I like it Ron.  ;D

Is the red colored wrap on the rammer just decorative, or functional in some way?

The red wrap is just cosmetic

I forgot to mention, the gun is very light and well balanced

Sweet gun there buddy...…  Never too old for a good new flint fowler.

I also liked the print on the wall.  I have a few of David's myself......

I have several of Davids prints too, that one "The Long knife" he signed for me..."To Ron, one who knows the pull of the woods on a man's soul"

There's something about a fowler that just seems to pull one into the woods. She's a beauty.

I'm really impressed with the work done on that siler lock, very nice, I didn't even recognize it as a siler.
