Pick, Brish & Measure Set
« on: March 03, 2019, 10:44:22 PM »
These are going with the Bag Marcruger made for the CLA Auction. The brush needs to be trimmed, has you can tell it is Horse tail, the pick is Copper, the handles are Cow Horn as is the measure, it has Eight panels on it  they will all have chain attachment using one of the "octopus" hangers.
I'll post Pix of Two horns, one of which will go with the set later.

Neat!  Where did you get the tiny chains?   Can’t wait to see all the pieces together!

That's weight chain off a grandfather or cuckoo Clocks, I buy it when I see it at flea markets or yard sales. Here's some on E-bay but I do not do E-bay. Clock maker supply houses carry it also. You can burn the coating off with a light torch, then dip it in Bluing or Brown it. I did have some once that melted when I was burning the finish off.

Thanks Tim!  I should’ve thought of eBay, it’s usually my “go to” for everything...🤦🏻‍♂️.  Another member has already offered to send some...ain’t this the best place on the internet?  Now I just need to order me a smaller set of jaws for my lathe chuck, so I can handle these smaller pieces.

You guys be sure and post pictures when you get the whole set together!

Greg, I turned those between centers, using tips like this. Cut the points off and just eyeballed the
centers. For the brush I drilled it out while it was still pretty large, turned a peg to go in the hole and went from there.
