Anyone Recognize this Lock Engraving?
« on: March 14, 2019, 03:46:54 PM »
Just curious, so Checking with the members to see if this lock engraving pattern looks familiar to anyone.  It’s kind of distinct at the tail, so maybe someone has come across it before.  Thanks.

That engraving pattern is pretty common on English import locks.  It's not unique to any particular English lock maker, but used by many.

The lock itself looks like a modern reproduction with probable cast-in engraving.

Here is a sampling found on original locks.

Looks like a typical English export lock to me. Lots of variations on a theme. Unless I’m mistaken these came engraved.

(Added after reading Phil’s post)
Looking closer the sear spring looks as though it is modern, being made of flat spring steel stock as opposed to forged.

That looks like a 1960s era lock very similar to a Russ Hamm lock etc.  I definitely do not think it's older than that.
