« on: March 16, 2019, 05:43:38 PM »
Hi Guys!
My last trip to https://norsk-bergverksmuseum.no/ I be hanging With the Pocket pistol M 1814/24 made by Ole Bronn. The wife came and Draw me from it ;)Ok, I will like to build me a replica, and Lucky me a buddy of mine have made some drawings of the pistol earlyer and a lot of very good photos. So I start With the barrel, made from a bit original 12,17x44 Rolling Block barrel

Neat project Runar.  You can bet I and a lot of others will be following this.  I might have some lock parts - that cock for example, if you are going to build your own.

Runar - Great start.  I was excited to see this yesterday. I started to build a flintlock pocket pistol with a 4 1/2" barrel recently.  We could have a race, but I'd bet on you winning ;)
Good luck!

That pistol will need good sights like a modern pistol uses. ;D

From the cuts made by your saw, Runar, I'd say you have a nice dense piece of fruitwood there.   A great choice.

Looking good!  I have an idea for a similar project for one of these days. It will be a .62 cal pocket pistol similar to these.

Those little locks are like a lady's watch compared to a pocket watch.
They are a booger to make.I have made 2 of them in my career of
making these parts and would not think of another one.

This little one would work nicely for a pocket pistol project, being 4 1/4" long.  Too bad it is left hand.

That is a nice little lock, would make a nice pocket pistol for a southpaw.

I thought about using a John Bailes lock and modifying it a bit.

That's a really nice small lock and it appears to have never been in a gun. Is there a story with it??

I acquired it some 45 years ago.  It is an unused antique lock.  Never received final finish.  No idea who made it, although I suspect it is English.
From a mechanical point of view, note the tall arm on the mainspring.  Even though the lock is small, it will fit against a musket sized barrel.
