Grades of Scotch Brite pads?
« on: March 19, 2019, 05:36:35 PM »
I see folks on this site like the scotch brite pads, and even Mr Kibler is using them in his video, which I am tring to do.
My problem is that even though I searched the web, I am having difficulty finding the different gards of grit/coarseness of the pads.  I have green and maroon, cant really tell a differeance, cept that I need something finer? I think that might be gray?
I'd go back to 0000steel wool, but if this is better, I want to learn.
Anyone know if there is a chart or anything telling the diff grades of scotchbrite pads?
Thanks

Look on Skotchbrite (3M) site.
I use mostly the two you have. The next finer is gray, then white.  For finishes, maroon works fine.

I didn't even know there were that many grades!  I've been using green for about everything I need a scouring pad for.  I'll have to check out Lowes, myself.

I buy a box of 20 at a time.  Surprisingly amazon is not the best deal, shop around. I get them at a welding supply outfit.

Are they different thicknesses as well as different abrasiveness?

The blue ones IMO are different.  They are almost a hard plastic....not like the other grades that you can actually feel the abrasive texture of them.   They are likely best suited for the kitchen.
