You have will- power putting out these knives with guards. Guards makes me frustrated. Another beautiful knife!

That is nice.

Rosewood (due to it's own oils) makes a good reel seat for a spey rod, as well.

Very nice knife  8) :). I hope that handle is not Brazilian rosewood because and I quote;

"Due to the high demand and limited supply of Brazilian rosewood, and its continued exploitation in recent decades, it has been listed in the most restrictive category of endangered species: CITES Appendix I. Not only is the lumber restricted from being imported or exported from country to country, but even finished products made of Brazilian rosewood may not cross international boundaries."

I purchased the material at the Batson Symposium last year, it is Bolivian rosewood.
I also have a very nice chunk of Ironwood purchased at the same time that I am thinking about using for a similar knife.

I have purchased chunks of exiotic woods and other exiotic materials for knife handles, pistol grips and other odds & ends years ago and use them sparingly for special jobs. One can get into big trouble if one does not know what's what in the exiotic materials world.

Good advice.
My step father is a member of a wood working guild where he lives and since he retired he has focused on woodworking and teaching woodcraft.
A few years ago he was approached by a family friend who's father had passed away 20 years ago or so.  Her mother was selling the home and was clearing out his dad's home office.
He was a lumber broker specializing in exotic woods from around the world and in his office storage were 40 years worth of samples from exotic woods worldwide dating back to the 1940's.  Needless to say it has been a treasure trove.  Most of the sample are 1' to 2' foot in length, 6-8 inches in width and a couple of inches thick.  She gave it to him, refused any payment.
Many of the woods are now unavailable due to restrictions or scarcity.

Good looking knife Todd. What did you finish the rose wood with? Made a pipe axe handle from rose wood once but didn't look like that.

Thanks Brian.
I used 60, 80, 120, 180, 220 grit to finish then 5 coats of french linseed oil rubbed in by hand, rubbed down between coats with 0000 steel wool and then polished with a really soft chamois type cloth.
