Hawken Fever
« on: March 25, 2019, 12:06:03 AM »
Between all the Hawken topics posted here in the last four or five years and a trip to James Gordon's, plus a trip to Cody, I acquired the fever and have made a couple of attempts at Hawken guns. Here are some photos of the second one, not sure it's a Hawken, but I will say it's Hawken-ish. Thanks for the inspiration this place provides..

Funny you should ask----- hahaha. Seems like a separate addiction to longrifles, but same thing too. I got it, lots of guys here have it. Just something about the simple utility and beauty of the style. Not to mention the history.
Your build looks nice. Its like I told another newbie, building his first long rifle, "bet you cant build just ONE !!! hahaha. Speaking for myself, I got it bad.
Welcome aboard,enjoy the fellowship.

Nice work. Anyone should be proud to be seen with that rifle. Keep it up.

I posted this in the wrong place, attended it to be in gun building. Can I move it?

Ditto what has been said. I built this same rifle in 2009-10 as my re entry into the hobby after long career absence. In 58 cal, same fittings. I have re worked it once and got it looking like yours, only plain wood and near black finish. A real boomer and a lot of fun, lessons learned.
Be proud of your work, ya got a good start. Best regards, Dave f 8) 8)

Looks pretty good to me, a few minor things, maybe, but certainly nothing to take away from it's abilities or overall appearance.
