Lancaster engraving
« on: March 28, 2019, 08:01:25 PM »
Hi all,
A few picks of Lancaster build I did a while back. My method is hammer & chisel with steel Belgium handles. I used a flat & a square from 3/32” tool bits 5% cobalt.

Nice work. But I'm confused.... left handed? Or right handed? Looks like both... or neither  ;)

I like the scalloped boarder along the bottom of the side plate. I used that treatment on a Lancaster that I just finished and posted over on the Contemporary board. It is not a treatment that was used a lot on Kentucky's but I think it is very appealing. Good job on the rifle and the engraving.

Nice control!  That cheek piece insert must have been a real challenge to do the inletting for huh?

Hi,
I cut it out of sheet silver. And yeah, I did some sweating over. My friend who is left handed said to me to do the build it had to have the Polish eagle in the cheekpiece the rest was up to me.
I replied I’ve never did a left hand rifle, he said “close your right eye”
