Beware of Amazon

There was a recommendation for newbies to get the book Flintlocks a Practical Guide for Their use and Appreciation
To help us with our questions on shooting.
Went on Amazon and they had a few used books for $144.00. Thought that was a bit much.
Looked a little further and found same book new at Crazy Crow's website for $29.95.
Glad I looked .

Their one day "FREE" shipping is usually tacked on to the price of the item you are buying!  Many times the item is priced way over retail as well.    They recently tricked me into joining their Prime set up for a monthly fee.  Being a bit naïve and old school in my ways, I took the bait like a starving bass after a U20 flatfish! :-[ 

I will honor my mistake until I've done my time and then drop them like a hot potato!

Or you can buy directly from the author for a couple bucks more and he pays the shipping and personally autographs it to you.

I buy a lot of books from Abe Books on line.    Great network of books stores.  Google them up and take a look.

Really simple.

Many (all?) of the books listed on Amazon, are priced by the book seller that is selling the book, not Amazon.  Book sellers can open an account with Amazon and use the Amazon website to advertise their goods, similar to how eBay works, except it's a set price, not an auction.  You pay Amazon, Amazon keeps their cut, bookseller mails you the book.

And I agree, many of the book prices are absolutely nutz.

Ive seen this kind of stuff work the other way around too. Best advice i recently got is to shop around.

I like this option , I failed to locate his contact info. here and on the web if someone would be willing to point me in the right direction I would be much appreciative.

Haven't been able to find anything cheaper on Amazon than I can on Ebay or elsewhere for a few years now.  So, I never shop Amazon anymore.  ever

But I did for a while.
