Drill Rod for Burnisher

I have a piece of 3/8 Drill Rod.  Would this make an acceptable
Scraper burnisher?

Should be OK. However, if the scraper is pretty hard, like some store bought types, I use the shank of a 3/8-1/2" drill bit.  These are too thin to keep sharpening on the sides and work better with a rolled edge.

Lee Valley tools sells a burnisher purpose made by Veritas...not expensive and a great tool.

I use an old knife sharpening steel I got somewhere.  Even has a handle on it.

Anything that is hardened steel. USA made Allen wrench.
