Kibler SMR at TN Show
« on: April 11, 2019, 02:56:45 PM »
The Tennessee Kentucky Rifle show is this weekend and I hope y’all will be there.

I put together one of Jim’s SMR kits and will have it at the show. This is the first one of Jim’s kits I have built. I have had a couple of students put them together in my rifle building classes. I had been very impressed with the quality of these and decided I would do one.

The kit I received was a 40 caliber and in a beautiful piece of curly Walnut. I decided to do a few modifications to the kit. The kit is great as it comes and makes a great rifle but the wood was so nice I decided to make a few changes. I added a nose cap, entry pipe, toe plate, patch box and did some file work on the butt plate.

I have attached a few pictures of this build but under the shop lights the photos do not show the figure in the stock very well. Stop by if you come to the show and tell me what you think of the rifle.

Fantastic as usual Jim.  I too love the medallion.  Its meaning and the craftsmanship. Most excellent.  I like the deep finish too.  Wish I was there to see it.  God Bless,   Marc

Quite dark, certainly well make.

Nicely filed muzzle too, by the looks of it.

Love the custom touches you made to the gun, much less "cookie cutter" than I am accustomed to seeing.

Well done.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I enjoyed this build and Jim has done a great job supplying a quality product. I may do another one in maple just to see how it goes. The Tennessee show was great as usual. A big thanks to Randal, Linda and Miss Boo for all their hard work. Looking forward to next year already.

Cades and I were lucky to have our table next to Jim's. Course the flip side to that was we had a front row seat to admire Jim's very fine guns.
I could have sold hat gun ten times or more. That was how much interest there was...!  Nice work Jim but the pics don't really do it justice..

Yes, having been a part of putting on a longrifle show I can attest to the large amount of work that gas to be done in advance of the actual show itself. My hat is off to all that took part in making the Knooxville TN show a success.
