Engraving Name on Barrel
« on: April 22, 2019, 04:40:02 PM »
Is it standard practice to engrave your name on a barrel prior to browning or after?  I've looked at a lot of pictures and it just made it more confusing.

I always engrave prior to browning or bluing.

Like David, I engrave prior to bluing/browning.  I had to engrave my name on a rifle that I browned first, and it worked out ok, but the little edges turned up from the cuts will now always be a rough spot, and the engraving itself, subject to rust.

Art is not an object.  It is the excitement inspired by the object.

I engrave before finish in order to remove any burrs.
BTW to be read from lock side.
