This is a Norwegian barrel. 11" from breech in square section it is threaded to become takedown . I presume to make it easier to hide from authorities.

Burnt, looking at the pic you posted I see a distinct line in the stock and wedges on each side...I'd assume that is where the barrel would break and the front half of the stock could stay on the front end of the barrel.


Maybe I'm way off base...but looking at the pic that's what I see and what makes sense to me...

Mauser06 The one I am building has a hooked breech and a single wedge but no" two piece barrel. I am waiting to see if this is threaded or has a "slip fit" Back in the day Don Getz was making 60" two piece threaded barrels that joined at a wedding band.

Here is one that I made using a one piece barrel.  Not a direct copy, but in the style of several I saw on display in the Czech Republic last year.

This barrel has a threaded joint. I’m almost done with my part,( building barrel) customer will then put it in wood and finish.

Charlie B, this is the third Norwegian barrel I've seen, and they were all square in the aft section.  Is that a custom with Norwegian barrels, or was I just lucky to see only those?

That "poacher's gun" is going to be a fascinating project for the builder.  Hope the King's men don't take off after him!

I’m by no means an expert, but both barrels I have had the pleasure of building have been square at breech.
