Barrel profile
« on: October 31, 2019, 12:29:02 AM »
I recently pick up a Getz barrel with the following profile measurements:
    Length 38 inches
Breech .880 inches across flats tapering to .627 inches 11 inches from muzzle, and back up to .765 at the muzzle. I cannot find any information on this profile, but do not believe it is an A profile. I was wondering if this a special profile, and what school rifle would be appropriate for this barrel. Any information would be appreciated.

Sounds like a swamped barrel to me.

Getz made many one off barrels that don't correspond to any standard profiles. What ever you make should be late as it is a very small barrel.

      Mike,
I thought this might be the case since it was such a small barrel , but lack of knowledge on my part prompted the question to confirm. I appreciate you giving me some direction on the build.

           Best regards,
            Dave.

PD,
I had a barrel with the same demensions I believe. Thinking that Getz barrel was from the 80's era. Just my 2 cents worth.
Have a great day, Gordy

You can get a fair idea of the age of the barrel by the serial #.

Very early. Don likely made it though that makes no difference except nostalgia.

I'd say  very early 80's. Don used to produce ALOT of barrels back in those days.
