I failed to note who had advertised that they would do barrel freshing?

Check with Rich Pierce, he was doing some. He might have learned his lesson :)

It’s me.  I’ve learned a few reasons to avoid certain barrels unless willing to cut some off the breech and possible muzzle.  If the powder chamber is burned to where it has zero rifling we are looking at over 20 hours of work.  If the muzzle is relieved over 0.010” and we want uniform diameter to the muzzle, same story. Cut 2-3” off or it becomes a big job.

The rifling must be strong enough to act as the guide for the cutters.
(Undoubtedly not your interest, Ron) - cannot do button rifled barrels. They are work hardened.

Thanks for the info Rich. I will review this barrel and give it some more thought. Will you be at the CLA show?

I hope to make CLA. Money and remaining vacation will dictate! Going to Dixon’s.

It really is satisfying to restore an old barrel to where it shoots like a new bought barrel from one of our suppliers. Plus putting some small amount of choke in is easily done and makes loading easy once short started.
