PrimerW/Sun Patch & Screw-In Filler Plug

 This started out as a simple flat primer but when I put it in the press the forms in it and cranked it down it decided to crack. Instead of trashing it I figured a patch would work. After trying a couple of different design I can up with this one, it is cut from Pewter, the center spike covers the tip of the crack. It is about 4 1/2 X 2 1/4". The screw-in filler plug was just one of those because I felt like it things.

 After posting the Pix, I thought it was missing something so I put a band on it. Don't know which way I like it best, leaning towards keeping the band.

Personally, I like it best without the band.  I find the beauty of this little piece in its' simplicity while still keeping its' function.   But then, I've been wrong plenty of times.

 Well fells right now it's gonna be bandless. I noticed in the Pix w/band that it was a little crooked. Since it was only heated and pressed on I decided to take it off heat it back up and try and get it back on straight. Well...I got into something else here in the shop and the next thing I smell something, the water had boiled out of the can and the band got real crispy. So unless I decide to make another small band, kind of a PINB, it will go without. Always something....

Well done my friend. Some of the best projects come out of difficulty. The true measure of a craftsman is fixing the boo boos. It's not a mistake until it is left that way. Now it is a learning moment. Experience is dear teacher.
