Banded Horn and Leatherworking classes for this September
« on: July 16, 2019, 07:39:43 AM »

Coming this September - Two different classes on the same weekend - could be a good opportunity for you and a buddy or spouse to sign up and travel together !

New for 2019 is a banded powder horn class with Billy Griner - Learn how to craft a late 18th/ 19th Century style banded powder horn in the Southern tradition of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia with horn maker Billy Griner. Using a variety of hand and power tools including knives, rasps, files, and wood-lathe,  each student will experience the artistic process of creating their own Southern Banded Powder Horn. Class time will accentuate not only the lathe work to make horn parts but also the hand work required to produce Southern Banded Powder Horns

Also on the same weekend - Leatherworking with Maryellen Pratt and Jeanne Mcdonald - In this two day class, leatherworkers Jeanne MacDonald and Maryellen Pratt will guide you through the making of your choice of a variety of projects including traditionally styled hunting pouches, properly fitted knife sheaths, haversacks, or woven straps. Other projects may be possible pending instructor approval. Techniques including material selection, design, layout, finishing and a variety of stitching and weaving styles will all be covered.
