Help identifing a type of horn I have
« on: July 19, 2019, 01:15:22 AM »
What is the correct name for a horn that stores Powder( I can tell from the powder residue in the screw off top. The bottom is oval, and it get round as it goes up.The top is screw off and seems to have been a large powder measurer from the black stain inside. It sits upright on a flat surface
I bought this at the Tenn. Show about 5 or 6 years ago.  Thanks in advance.

Tim  It is a Queen Anne  I just could not remember the name. I am not set up to send pictures. I will see if I can send it like I did the flat horn
,direct to you. It will be several days as we will be out of town for several days.

I did not know these had a name, (Queen Anne) but they were used with sporting guns into the early 19th century.
I have a few, and find them V charming!

One, marked on the wooden base, "N Candy, (or Cundy)  June 5th - 1789".
