H.C. Bourne - .40 cal Hawken
« on: July 23, 2019, 03:14:41 AM »
I am trying to identify the value of the following muzzleloader. Built by H.C. Bourne, Hilliard O. 1963; has a W.M. Large .40cal barrel, Roller Lock & set trigger; curley maple stock; 12" length of pull;  44' overall length
Any info would be helpful (pics attached)

Because it’s far from a close copy of an original Hawken rifle, to me, it’s value is as a shooter with a Bill Large barrel.  If the barrel is pristine, some target shooters might pay $400.

The individual parts art more valuable than the complete gun. It’s an unfortunate compilation of mismatched parts, stocked in a beautiful piece of wood, reflecting a non traditional stock style.

Is that a "Roller" lock signed on the outside?

Maybe it's one of mine.In the long gone past I made a few square tail locks copied
from a gun made in Western Ohio but do not recall marking them externally but
that style of metal stencil was at one time a common hardware store item and I still
use mine a lot. HH is right,an odd breeding of barrel, lock and trigger by an obscure maker.

Modified on 2 August 2019. There is NO mainspring upper leaf pin showing so I am
thinking this is bogus.
