I had to have Rice custom build a "squirrel" barrel for my current ladies rifle project for my sis. My problem was that I needed a .36cal, 36", LIGHT barrel. Seems everywhere I looked that smaller caliber = higher weight.

Did you evade that problem with an A type barrel?

This rifle is a bit heavy with the "A" weight barrel but it's not bad. I don't know if Rice still makes it or not but they did have a "Squirrel barrel" that was lighter than the "A" weight. I think the breech on it was 13/16" and it was bored in .32 and .36. This rifle holds well though because the barrel has most of the weight at the breech end.
