Rock Island Sept 6 to 8 auction

Check out Lot# 365 "J. FORD" longrifle and Lot#3232 described as "Buck and Ball Gun". I understand that Ford's rifles are not very common.

Lot # 3232 has a lot of characteristics what Tom Grinslade considers a "Kentucky Fowler".

I like the Ford rifle. The buck and ball gun is in nice shape but generic. Hard to place and date that one. Easier to say where it’s not from than where it’s from.

Hacker Martin fans may be interested in the rifle he made for his son lot 370 or the three Lester Smith rifles lots 371, 372 and 3064. Also one or two others attributed to him.

The Hacker Martin and Lester Smith rifles are from an old collection here in Ashe County, NC. The old collector knew both men and visited with them often.
