The Tried and True gives a nice finish, if you follow the instructions on the can. Real thin coats rubbed in and then left to dry for a day or more. You will be tempted to do another coat when it looks and feels dry after less than a day. Don't do it, let it cure. If you do put on another coat before the first is cured, the new varnish will mix with the first coat and after rubbing it in, you will be left with the equivalent of one coat left on the wood.
