So nice. I’ve taken a Doe. Haven’t even laid eyes on a mature buck yet. Thanks for posting.

Congrats John. Good looking buck and rifle. Obviously lead does not agree with him.

Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky to have a deer run into the ball from my rifle this weekend. On the positive side, after we called it for the weekend today, I let my friends youngest son shoot his first flintlock. He loved it, and told his dad that he wants his own flintlock to hunt with from now on.

Awesome Smo.  I got a few blows and heard a couple crash through the woods. Haha.  A successful hunt to me now adays is having the time to get out there.

Actually had a buck I was watching at 200yds, but it never came closer and I didn't feel it an ethical shot. I was in Casey Co.

Congratulations John on a fine looking buck!

Would you be willing to tell how the frontal shot worked in regards to penetration,  how far he went and the blood trail?

Happy for you friend, Skychief.

Sure Matt , the deer only ran 40 yards .

He piled up and expired quickly, due too the heat (70*) I didn’t do much of an exploratory autopsy....

The ball went thru the right lung, above the heart and there was no damage too the liver.

I didn’t see an exit wound, so the ball is still in there somewhere, hopefully the processor will recover it.

That's a very nice buck you dropped, Smo.  It's so great when they vector in and collide with a lead ball you just happen to put out there.  Congratulations.

Thanks, he’s an 8 point The Wardens said he was 3.5 years old and weighed 147 field dressed according too their scales.

According too my 62 year old body it sure felt heavier while dragging and loading it.
