Mike's copy is an outstanding rifle.

Although, the alteration to the barrel of the original for a bayonet does have a certain appeal to some of us "Old Doggies" on the Forum. ;D

Some originals can be had for less than a contemporary fine build. Others go through the roof. At auction anything tied to the Revolutionary War was selling at high prices. A horn went for $170,000.

In looking at the post sale results on live auctioneers it looks to me that it did not sell.  The sale price shows, "Did Not Pass".  OR am I missing something.  Nose has not stopped bleeding after the one horn went for $170,000.

I was there and it sold. On the Morphy’s site, it is one of the few items that does not have a sale price posted—but it sold for $240,000 + 20% buyer’s premium + 6% sales tax.

I saw it live as well and yes it appeared to sell.  NOW, the live auction site shows "Lot Passed".

A number of other items were showing "Did Not Pass" and now they have also been changed to "Lot Passed".  Maybe there is some limbo stage after it ends until it is settled.  I do believe I read sales totals over $100,000 were to be paid is 1 day (?).

Don't know what it all means but it was interesting to watch.  Seems like historical items brought strong prices no matter what it was.  Rev. era stuff was strong but a lot of "ordinary" things just barely made the low end of the estimates and some not even that.  I'll reduce it to my formula:

$P = p x C2.

Just looked at Morphy's site. Lot# 1007 is not listed as of yet with a Final Sales Price. Do not know how current the site is.
