Strike a light bag

Been creative again and made a strike a light bag 5 by 3 inch barktan deer in combination with a braintan quilled Flap, bordered with glass poney beads

 A pretty bag.
 I have a question: Do you put char cloth directly into the bag or do do you first put it in in some container (like a small tin) so that the striker and flint don't turn it to crumbles? Always wondered when I have seen strike-a-light bags.

The char cloth would not last long in one piece if you not keep it in a container
