3 Pa Longrifles (Pics Added)
« on: November 05, 2019, 02:05:17 AM »
I've been saving for a while so that I could acquire a few original longrifles. It finally happened and I was able to pick them up today. The top one is a Jacob Hoak and the bottom two are made by Nicholas Beyer. I will post better pictures when I get the chance to take them later this week.

Thanks. It was at the Eastern Pa Longrifle show, but I didn't have the cash at that point.

If those great rifles are the start of your collection, I can't wait to see what comes next.

Congratulations!

Now that’s the spirit. Well chosen.  More pics please.
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

These are the only ones that I have. I had a Henry Albright and a Ketland fowler, but both were sold so I could get these. You could say that it is a fresh start. I'll have to start saving again before I can get something else.

Congratulations on a nice trio of KY Rifles. Any one of these would be a one gun collection. I like the Jacob Hoak and look forward to more photos of that one. He was
an early maker, a contemporary of Dickert, and seemingly did not make many rifles.
And, not too many of those were carved. Beyer made many rifles. I quit counting at fifty or so, but he never made a bad one. It would not be a bad thing to collect only Beyer rifles as none seemed to be like the others. Almost all of his guns were carved to some extent.
Thank you for bringing them here to be admired.

Great rifles John, I would say that these rifles are more than a good start for a collection.

It's had some restoration work done to it. I really like this one, probably my favorite of the three.

Very nice guns! Great carving.
Is the Beyer gun with the oct. to round barrel a buck & ball piece?

Don't worry about the picture quality of some of the photos as you can ship all three guns to me and I will photograph each of them. I will of course, promptly return them to you in 15 to 20 years. ;D

Good one :P. The Beyer might have been rifled at one time, but I think it was built as a smooth rifle.
