TN rifle info request
« on: November 07, 2019, 07:05:32 AM »
I’m in the middle of a TN rifle build and referencing the 3 patch box Bean rifle.  I’d like to use either silver or copper on the side plates.  Which would have been more appropriate to use during that time?

TN Copper was found in 1843, the Burra Burra mines opened in 1899 (-1959), how soon common folks or craftsmen had Cu in the region I don't know.  But eventually it was a local product.

I expect silver was well-known and more available, but was also currency at the time.

3 patch?   oh, "piece" perhaps.

Wade,

It has a double banana patch box and then an additional one where the toe plate is located.

I would just use steel. Is the toe plate box for caps?

No,  the original is a flint rifle that hasn't been converted.
