A year ago August, I let an old friend talk me into 'finishing up' a rifle he'd started. In his mid 80's, and he unable to take the rifle to fruition, it seemed at the time to be a good project. In retrospect, it would have been easier, faster, and turned out better, if I had started from scratch. But once into the build, there comes a time when there's no turning back. Well, the rifle's done, and it turned out fine in my opinion, and I feel good about the exercise. Several of the parts I had to replace or build myself, add wood where wood should not have been removed, and cut away all of the 'contemporary' funkiness that the owner had added. As with many builders, he'd left enough wood so I could do that, and still end up with a rifle of decent proportions. And his parts selection was excellent: .32 cal Green Mt. barrel, Bob Roller percussion lock, and W. Cain single set triggers. I think he was aiming at a contemporary rifle based on the half stocked target style rifles of RW Soper, from Canada West. At least that's what came to me remembering the rifles I saw as a boy in South Western Ontario.
So, here it is warts and all...feel free to offer critique, good and bad.
