Swivel Barrel With L. Day Action
« on: December 19, 2019, 07:12:56 AM »
I picked up this swivel gun some time back.  It was advertised as a Jack Garner gun built on a Leonard Day action.  The rifle is .62.  Smoothie is 20 ga.  The rifle barrel is marked J Garner.  I have discovered from correspondence with both Garner and an associate that he did not build this gun.  The associate said Jack never built swivel guns.  So it is a mystery who built it and why the barrel was marked J Garner.  Repurposed barrel?  Trying to pass off a fake?  Dunno.  Very nice work, though.  Just casting about on the off chance one of you knows who made it.

Looks like a gun built from a scrapped swivel gun and a full parts bin. Not a lot of rhyme or reason to the parts used.

I don't believe that Leonard stamps his name n a rifle that he didn't build and finish. So this may well be a rebuild of one of his earlier pieces.    Dan
