Don’t know why this was deleted yesterday but I’ll give it another go today.

Please refrain from commenting if you don’t have anything intelligent to add.

Found this yesterday in a pawnshop and with a little online digging, I found the maker in Vienna Ohio. He operated between 1851-1872.

The bore appears to be in decent shape. I don’t have a bore light small enough to get all the way down.

That is a real nice rifle there.  A bit of minor cleaning/oiling and it will be just fine.

Look in the fishing section of your local big store, and get a couple of the little bobber lights.  Or a nock light off an arrow - they are very small and drop down most barrels without problem.

Please do not try to make it appear like new - that patina is valuable!

Very interesting. This gun resembles guns made by Charles Slotterbeck in Lakeport, and San Francisco, Calif. he used this triggerguard (only often in iron), and the stock shape was very similar as well. Slotterbeck tapered his forestocks the same way, shaped his buttstocks the same way, and often included checkering at the wrist. A few Slotterbeck also featured back action locks. It would be interesting to know if they worked together at some time, or shared a mentor.

Any connection with Slotterbeck is doubtful ( but anything is possible); Nathan Bailey Derrow Tyler spent his life in the small Ohio town of Vienna. He was buried in Warren, Ohio in 1915.

Here's something semi-intelligent. ;)

Being from Pittsburgh, the lock caught my eye. Whitmore Wolf Duff & Co, Wood St Pittsburgh 1858-1872 Hardware & Importers of locks. The company went through three iterations with the markings on the lock of your rifle being the last.

What is the caliber?

Your first posting yesterday, which disappeared, did not have any photos that I could discern.

It is a nice looking rifle, congrats.
