While the triggerguard is unusual (and obviously not well repaired), I don't think it's wrong at all.  The rear hooked triggerguard shape is often seen on German and other pistols, occasionally fowling guns.  It is very often seen on Swedish rifles.
When a reenactor says "They didn't write everything down"   what that really means is: "I'm too lazy to look for documentation."

It's an accuracy reducer.  Sometimes gunsmiths who are also great shooters, install a device that gives them a handicap, so that their friends will play with them.
At least that's what I tell my friends.
